About Joseph Heggins, LPC
Therapy for adults online across Texas
Hi, I'm Joseph Heggins. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor who works with struggling couples and with adults who have ongoing challenges with depression and anxiety. My goal is to help you stop feeling overwhelmed and depressed and start encouraging you to see healing and transformation.
My Journey To Becoming A Therapist
I’m no different from the clients I see. Like everyone else, I'm human. I've been through both wonderful and difficult experiences that have shaped who I am and how I help.
Helping People Is A Gift To Others, But Also Myself
Being a therapist is rewarding. I love helping people become healthier and more empowered and witnessing them achieve more fulfilling lives. The most rewarding thing about being a therapist is providing encouragement during life's challenges.
I am committed to encouraging you to see healing and transformation.
I Have Compassion For People And Bring An Open, Non-Judgmental Presence To Sessions
I have a natural ability to collaborate with people to set goals and help them reach them.
People who know me often say that I am a good listener who can help people feel heard and understood which helps people feel seen and start to heal.
Our Sessions Are Focused
On You
Sessions will provide you with the space to express your thoughts and feelings. In feeling safe and comfortable, you'll be able to figure things out about yourself.
It's important to me to focus on setting goals and working on reaching them together. There isn't a "one size fits all" approach to therapy. Our sessions will fit your specific needs and concerns.
As A Therapist, I Embrace The Following Philosophies
I believe that change is possible when you allow yourself the space to do the work
I believe that taking care of yourself is the most generous thing you can do for the world
I believe that loving and accepting ourselves for who we are, scars and all, is one of the most courageous things we can do
I believe that marriages become stronger when the parties learn to turn to each other for love and support instead of turning away in anger
I believe that even if we feel like we've lost hope, it's possible to show up, commit to ourselves, and do what it takes to start feeling better
My Professional Background
I received a bachelor of science in Psychology at the Stephen F. Austin State University. In 2006, I received my Master's in Psychology in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University Maryland. I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2009.
